The book 'A Genealogical Dictionary of the First Settlers of NewEngland...' by James Savage, published originally in 1860, shows that Peter, son of William, removed in 1670 to Simsbury. He mentions his wifes and children, who were all named as well as his wife in his will of June28, 1728, but some were not living. He became one of the pioneers and earliest settlers. He died there at the age of 84 years.
On November 3, 1674, Peter, as one of a Committee of Three, for the Town of Simsbury, joined his associates and granted the privilege to various Indians to hunt for venison in the Town of Simsbury during their lifetime (See Appendix A, History of Simsbury).
Peter Buell's will is recorded in Vol. XII, page 115-116, Hartford District probate records. It reads:
"I, Peter Buell of Simsbury, do make and ordain this my last will and testament: Imprimis. I give unto my wife Mary the use of all my moveable estate that is not yet disposed of, that is to say, after my sickbed and funeral charges with all my other lawfull debts are fully paid. Item. I give unto my son Samuel, and the heirs of Ephraim, 1/2 of my undivided land and 20 acres over, to be equally divided between Samuel and Ephraim's heirs, that is to say, 1/2 to Samuel and the other half to Ephraim's heirs, and that shall be their portions and no more, only I give unto Samuel my old musket. Item. I give unto my two younger sons, viz., William and Jonathan, five shillings to each of them and no more, because I have considered them already in giving of them lands by deeds of gift. Item. I give unto the heirs of my daughter Abigail 20 shillings...".(next page not copied) (See copy in Buell file)The book 'AGenealogical Dictionary of the First Settlers of New England...' by James Savage, published originally in 1860, shows that Peter, son of William, removed in 1670 to Simsbury.
