HAMON PECCHE, 1st son by 2nd wife and eventual heir, said to have beenone of the favourites of Henry I, was pardoned 28s.7d. danegeld in Suffolk in 1130. He was with Henry II at Dover in January 1155/ 6.Sheriff of Cambs and Hunts 1163-66.
He married, between 1130 and 1135, Alice, daughter of Robert PEVEREL, and2nd of the 4 sisters and coheirs Of William PEVEREL, of Bourn, Cambs. He [Bewes de Knovill] married, 2ndly, circa 1276, Alianore, widow ofRobert LESTRANGE, and daughter and coheir of William DE WARENNE, of Blanchminster (Whitchurch), with whom he had a moiety of Whitchurch. By her he had no issue. She was dead in 1306, and was buried at High Ercall,where her tomb is to be seen. He died before 6 July 1307, date of writ for his inquisition.
