Robert, 4th Lord Willoughby de Eresby, son and heir, was born abt 1349
(aged 23 in 1372), and served in the wars with Flanders and France, and
in Spain under John of Gaunt, Earl of Lancaster. He was one of the co
heirs of his maternal uncle, William Ufford, Earl of Suffolk, inheriting
great wealth thereby. He died Aug. 9, 1396. He married three times, but
William, the 5th Lord, was son of his first wife, Alice
Skipwith, dau. of John Skipwith of Colthorpe (son of Sir William
Skipwith, Chief Baron of the Exchequer) by his wife Alice Tilney, dau. of
Sir Frederick Tilney of Boston, co. Lincoln.
