ANDERSON - Glen E. Shields, 95, of Anderson, passed away on Jan. 9, 2014, at Community Hospital, Anderson.
He was born on June 19, 1918, in Terre Haute, and resided most of his life in Anderson. Glen served his country in the U.S. Navy during World War II.
He retired as a quality control road agent for Delco Remy for more than 40 years.
Early in his life he enjoyed flying his plane, traveling and sailing. Later in life, he also enjoyed reading and doing crossword puzzles. He was a member of Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 266.
Glen is survived by his loving spouse, Barbara (McKee) Shields; children, Debra (Charles) Wheatley and Doug (Cynthia) Shields; grandchildren, Tim, Erin, Hannah, Rachel, Abby, Lydia Shields and Matthew A. Wheatley; great-grandchildren, Gracie Shields, Miles Wheatley, Ainsley and Arden Shields; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by brothers, Bartram and Marion Shields; mother, Carrie (Brattain) Shields; and father, Ralph Cowan Shields.
Visitation will be held from 4 to 6 p.m. Monday at Robert D. Loose Funeral Homes & Crematory, 200 W. 53rd St., Anderson.
Services will be at 6 p.m. Monday at the funeral home. Cremation will take place with burial of ashes in the Johnson Hopewell Cemetery, Graysville, Ind., at a later date.
Memorial contributions may be made to Boy Scouts of America, American Kidney Fund or the VFW Post 266.
