Genealogical Research in England, The Fiske Family By G. Andrews
Moriarty, ofBristol, RI, NEHGR, 1933, Vol. 87, pg 367-368:
1. Simon Fiske, of Laxfield, co. Suffolk, 1428, 1455, wheelwright, the
testator of 22 Dec. 1463, was born prob. about 1700, and died between 22
Dec. 1463 and 26 Feb. 1463/4, when his will was probed at Laxfield by
Katherine, his widow, and by his son John, the Younger. He m. Katherine
___ (?Crispe), who, perhaps was not his first wife.
Simon Fiske was probably a grandson of Hugh Fiske or Fisqs, who appears
as a landholder at Laxfield about the middle of the fourteenth century
and in his turn was prob. a descendant of Daniel Fiske of Laxfield, 1208.
The name of the wife of Hugh Fiske has not been discovered, nor the
Christian name of hisson, who is supposed to have been of Laxfield about
1390 and to have been the father of the Simon Fiske with whom this
pedigree begins. William Fiske, the Elder, of Laxfield, the testator of 6
Mar 1462/3, who died between that date and 21 Apr. 1463, when his will
was proved by Joan his widow, and by John Smyth, was probably a brother
of Simon Fiske; and ___ Fiske, who m. John Noleth of Laxfield and was
prob. the mother of Nicholas Noleth of Laxfield (one ofthe residuary
legatees and executors of the will of William Fiske, who renounced his
executorship), was probably a sister of Simon and William Fiske.
Children, the first four, perhaps by an unknown earlier wife:
2.i. William
ii. John, the Elder
iii. Edmund
iv. Margaret
v. A dau.
vi. A dau.
vii.A dau.
viii. John, the younger
ix. Geoffrey
x. Simon
