Roll: Amaury Vicomte de Thouars. Amaury came from the district locatedbetween the river Sevre, which flows to Mortagne, and the Dives, whichpasses to Moncontour. Vitali and William of Poitiers have recorded Amauryas being present at the Battle of Hastings, where he was appointed byDuke William to lead,with Alain le Roux of Brittany, the left wing of thearmy. Eldest son, married (1) Aserengarde, sister of Raoul de Maulgon,and (2) Ameline. Amaury died in1093, buried in the Church of St-Nichnolasdela Cheze, which he had just built. His name appears on all the rolls.
