Roger Arrived in Boston, Mass. Sept 14, 1662 from Nanzy, Essex, Englandon the ship Lyon, and landed at Watertown, now Cambridge, Mass., and wasmarried there. After tarring awhile in Boston, and near by Roxbury, Mass.Moved to Conn. andfounded the town of Milford. He was a man of importance in the church, and inthe colony. It is onrecord that before he joined the church, he was sent by heirs of anestate to defend their interest before the New Haven court as "Amanofvery fit parts for the work." The Memorial Bridge over the Wapawaug River bears on the coping the namesof the first settlers of the town, Roger Tyrrell andhis wife Abigailbeing of the number. Name spelled on it Terrill. He arrived in Milford, Conn. (via Roxbury and New Haven), Nov 3, 1644.His name and hiswife's first name appear on a stone on the MilfordMemorial Bridge over the Wapawaug River, as founders of the town.
