EZRA PERRY OF SANDWICH, MASS (c. 1625-1689) By Lydia B.(Phinney) Brownson andMaclean W. McLean, 1961, NEHGR Vol. 115 pg 96-97:
4. Samuel Perry, born "about the Middle of March 1667." died in sandwich, Mass., 8 Aug. 1751. He m. there, 27 Oct. 1689, Esther Taber of Dartmouth, Mass., (May. Des. vol. 14, p 171), born probably in Tiverton, R.I., about 1670, died in Sandwich 14 Jan. 1749/50 (vide post), dau. of Thomas and Esther (Cooke) Taber and granddau. of John Cook of the Mayflower. This marriage took place just one week after the date of Ezra Perry's will in which this son is given what was evidently intended to be his "marriage portion." The will of Capt. Thomas Taber of Dartmouth, dated 19 Nov. 1694, gives his "daughter Esther Perry and her husband" considerable land in Dartmouth and 6pounds in money. The original gravestones arestanding in the Old Bourne (formerly called Middle Monument) Cemetery: "In Memory of Samuel Perry Who Died Aug. ye 18th, 1751 in ye 85th year of His Age"and "In Memory of Esther ye Wife of Samuel Perry. Died Jan. Ye 14th, 1749/50aged 80 years." The will of "Samuell Perry of Sandwich, yeoman", dated 2 Aug.1750... was presented for probate 7 Sept. 1751.
