Elizabeth Moore was m. to Sir John Williams, Knight, of Thame, co.Oxford, one of whose kindred, Sir Richard Williams,Knight, eldestson ofMorgan ap William or Williams, (of ancient Welsh descent from the Lordsof Powys and Cardigan, who
flourished about the time of the Conqueror), by his wife, a sisterof theillutrious Thomas Cromwell, Earl of Essex,(see his Annates Bill, 25 HenryVIII, C. 20 and 21), assumed at the special desire of King Henry VIII thesurname of his uncle
Cromwell and was ancestor of the Protector. Issue, 1-Reginald. 2-John.Burke No. 1, Gardiner supra, Burke No. 6.
Rt. Hon. Sir John ap WILLIAM or WILLIAMS, Knight, (1559), Baron Williamsof Thame, Lord Chamberlain, Lord President of Wales, etc.; a master indiplomacy, who retained the friendship of four successive princes, was amember of the household of
King Henry VIII, and received by Patent in the eighteenth year ofthatmonarch L10 per annum for his faithful care of a pet greyhound,afterwards becoming clerk of the king's jewel office and treasurer of thesame. He purchased in the thirtieth
year of Henry VIII from Giles Heron, Esq., of Shakewell,co. Middlesex,the Manors of Great and Little Rycote, co. Oxford. In the next year,being then a Knight, he received from the King the chief stewardshipofthe manors of Grafton and
Hartwll, co. Northampton, also the manors of Witham, Weston-on-the-Greenand Botley. He was made chief supervisor of all swan in the Thames andother rivers, except those of Lancaster. He obtained a special patent forretaining ten persons,
gentlemen and yeomen, in his household, and giving them livery badges. Hehad another grant of office as Treasurer of the Court of Augmentation.Upon the death of Edward VI he appeared in behalf of Queen Mary and in1555 was solemnly created
Lord Williams of Thame at St. James palace,appointed Lord Chamberlain toKing Philip, and summoned to Parliament. Upontheaccession of QueenElizabeth, fortune still favored him and he was appointed by that QueenLord President of Wales. He
m. (1st wife) Elizabeth, daughterand coheir of Thomas Bledlow, Esq, sonand heir of Thomas Bledlow, sheriff of London in 1472, Issue. 1-Henry, m.Anne, daughter of Henry, Lord Stratford, and(dsp)2-Francis d. unm.3-Isabelle. 4-Marjery; he m.
(2nd wife) Marjery, daughter of Thomas, Lord Wentworth. No issue. Uponhis death in 1559, his estates devolved upon his two daughters, LadyWenman and Baroness Norreys, as co-heirs, and the Barony of Williams ofThame fell into abeyance. Burke
