Edward,the founder of the Poynton Warrens was a bastard son of the last WarrenneEarl of Surrey by Maud de Nerford, as is established by the fact thatMaud's inheritance in Skeyton, Norfolk,remained in the family of theWarrens of Poynton for some generations.
