His will is recorded in Book PC1 page 217, film 14424. It does not namea wife
but does name three children, James, Mary and Ruth. We learn from a bookby
Walter V. Ball "The Cecil Family of Maryland" that James is the son ofJohn who
immigrated to America about 1658. He is named in his fathers Will dated28 Apr 1698 and proved in St Mary's County, Maryland on 6 Jun 1698.
In Mary Louise Donnelly's book "Colonial Settlers, St. Clement's Bay" shestates that James was born around 1680 in St. Mary's Co., MD. He marriedRachel Adams. Thomas Melton wrote his will in 1705 he left legacy to hisgrandchildren Thomas Adams and Rachel Adams (w 12:58). "James Cissell andhis wife Rachel" approved the inventory of the estate of her brotherThomas on 12/16/1714 (36B:20). Thomas Melton, the uncle of Rachel AdamsCissell administered the estate of her brother Thomas Adams (acct36C:130).
James wrote his will on 3/30/1717 and it was probated on 4/22/1717(14:339). To his son James he left 25 acres of "Poplar Neck," 50 acres of"Broadneck" and personality. To his daughters Mary and Ruth he left theother 50 acres of "Broadneck" to be divided equally between them, he alsoleft Mary personalty. The residue of his estate was to be dividedequally between his three children. His friend Charles Neale was namedas his executor. His estate was appraised on 7/8/1717, valued atL33.13.06. Those who approved the inventory were his brothers John, Sr.and William (37B:231A). Rachel was deceased prior to her husband, as shewas not named in the will or the accounts.

Child Of Former Residents Killed By Auto Carol Lynn Shields, 9-year-old daughter of former Anderson residents, the Rev. and Mrs Marion D. Shields of Hutsonville 111., died instantly Friday as she was struck .by a car as she alighted from a school bus on the way home from school. The accident occurred at 4 p. m. near the family, home. The child was hit by a passing car as she stepped from the bus and suffered head injuries, .which [caused her. death at the scene of the mishap. Officers at Hutsonville are conducting an investigation of the accident. No. word has been received as to the identity of the driver whose car hit the child or whether he was taken into custody. The Shields child was a granddaughter of Ralph Shields, Madison Ave., a retired Anderson High School teacher. Parents of the child, the Rev. and Mrs. Marion D. Shields, who lived here a number of years ago, were missionaries in Bolivia, South America, and are now pastoring the F r i e n d s Church .at Hutsonville. Surviving are: the parents, the grandfather, and a brother, David Lee Shields. Funeral arrangements have not been completed.

Friends of Rev. '45 and Mrs. Marion D. Shields (Sara Lee Alverson '48) were deeply grieved to learn of the -Oeath of their daughter on December 20, 1957, as a result of being struck by a car when leaving her school bus at her home near Hutsonville, 111. Mr. Shields is pastor of the Pleasant Grove Friends Church and formerly served as missionary to Bolivia, South America. Funeral services were conducted at the Pleasant Grove Friends Church and burial was in the family cemetery north of Graysville, Ind. We extend 0ur deepest sympathy to the family.

HUTSONVILLE, Il., Dec, 20. (Special) A pre - Christmas holiday tragedy struck the residence of Rev, and Mrs. Marion Shields of Hutsonville, when their eight - year - old daughter, Carol Lynn Shields, was killed here instantly Friday afternoon. The tragic accident reportedly occurred when the child was alighting from a school bus and was crossing the road to go to her home and was struck by a car driven by Dell Richards, 54, of Annapolis. Crawford County Coroner Dr. Miodus stated that the small girl died of cerebral hemorrhage suffered in the Impact. The body was taken to the Pulliam Funeral Home where friends may call until 1 o'clock Monday afternoon when the body will be taken to the Pleasant Grove Friends Church for funeral services at 2 p. m. Monday. Rev. Lee Guyer will officiate and burial will be in the Johnson cemetery, near Graysville, 111. Richards claimed that he mistook the school bus for a truck due to the rain and fog and did not see the small girl as she ran across the street. Erol Dix, 38 years old, driver of the school bus, said that he had the stop sign out and that the flasher was working. A coroner's jury late Friday night returned a verdict of accidental death. The girl's father is pastor of the Friends Church located near Annapolis. He also is a member of the school faculty at West Union.
