Dorcas Araminta Sawyer, wife of James Monroe Sawyer, moved 1st to Kiowa,
Barver Co., Ks in 1891 with most of her children. They participated in the
Cherokee run which gave them land in Oklahoma. Tey founded a small town named
"Auburn" located about 4 miles west and 1 mile south of Cherokee, the County
Seat of Alfalfa Co., Ok. The buildings are now gone and the town to Auburn
no longer exists.
