He is called, "my sonne in lawe Robert ffoote, Citizen and ffishemonger of London" in the will of John Brooke. Robert Foote (John)(1723) was born in Royston, Cambridgeshire, England, before 1556. Robert died February 1608/1609 in London, Middlesex, England, at age 52. He married Joane Brooke June 18, 1576 in St. Leonards, Eastcheap, London, England.(1724) Robert was employed. His will left his mansion and adjacent lands to his son Robert; 50 pounds to his son James; and 40 pounds each to the rest of his children. He provided 40 shillings for the poor, and a 4 pound annuity for his wife. Robert Foote and Joane Brooke had the following children:

"to the poor in the parish twenty shillings. To the poor in Wethersfield twenty shillings. To my well beloved wife Joan, during her natural life, all such yearly rent as to me is reserved ou of my lease of certain tenements which I hold for divers years yet enduring by the grant of Sir Robert Chester knight and lying and being in the town of Royston, the yearly rent whereof to me reserved is at this present eight pounds. I give her also one annuity of four pounds to be paid during her natural life by my son Robert. To my son James fifty pounds. To son Daniel forty pounds at four and twenty. The same each to sons Nathaniel, Francis and Josua at like ages. to doughter Elizabeth Foote forty pounds at day of marriage or at age of thirty. to son Joseph my lease and term of years in a certain hopground called Plomley which I hold by lease from Mr. Josyas Clark and-----his wife. Sold his lands in Norton Mandeville in Ongar in 1629. Embarked Aug 1631 with wife and 5 childrenon ship "Lion". Landed at Boston and settled first in Charlestown. Admitted as freeman on 11 Jun 1635. In Oct 1635became one of first settlers ofHartford, CT. Lost cattle on the way. One of the original proprietors of Hartford.Will dated 22 Apr 1640 and proved 27Jan 1642 with that of his wife who died soon after he died in 1640. Fromp. 26 Richard Lyman 1617-1662, son of Richard Lyman RIN 191 and Sarah Osborn, came with his parents on ship Lyon. Here it says he married Hepzibah Ford in 1640. Doubt the validity of source due to several discrepancies.

DeLoss Love, 1914.From p. 32, became settles of Hartford in 1636 soon after arrival from England.From p. 124 received 30 proportions of land from the division by a town meeting on 3 Jan1639/40. From p. 156, an example of the average planter is the estateof Lyman when he died in 1641. He had suffered the loss of his cattle at thetime of his removal to Hartford. In 1641 he had 4 cattle, 3 goats, 8 hogs and had planted that year 5 acres of Indian corn, 3 roods of peas and barley, an acre each of summer wheat, oats, and meslin (a mixture of wheat and rye). This shows the progress after 5 years of labor. From p. 322, early pioneer homes were log, about 20-30 feet long with a chimney at one end and a thatched roof. Theywere built to last until a frame building could be erected. Will of Lyman in 1641 suggests he lived in such a house as he names no rooms and he had on hand "squared tymber, planke, and board" necessary for a framed house.

High Ongar in 1611. Family came to New England in Nov 1631 in the Lionwith John Eliot and his party and settled in Roxbury, MA. Freeman of MA Bay on11 Jun 1633. Eliot wrote that he was "an ancient christian but weake, yet after some time of tryal and quickening he joyned to the church".
