There is no proof that John Vowles was the father of Richard, although he may
have been. Even if he was, Sarah Scott probably married John much too late
to be the mother.
Michael Rochford did not marry Margaret Ford after the death of Richard
Vowles, but before her marriage to Wm. Cole. She married (1) Rochford, (2)
Cole, (3) Vowles. If indeed this is the correct identification for her.
Matthew Vowles' wife Ann, may have been a Cole, dau. of John of 1792 will in
St. Mary's. There is no basis for making her from Connecticut. I would
guess that it is probable that Ann WAS the dau. of John Cole of St. Mary's,
but no explicit proof.
I wonder what the basis is for making Benoni Price's father a David Price. I
searched a lot of records at Annapolis, and I did not find anything to help
me identify Benoni's father.
I forgot to check to see what you had on Mary Beall, wife of Benoni Price. I
do know that Francine had an extremely inaccurate picture of the Bealls in
general. She was the dau. of Ninian Beall, d. 1780, Prince George's Co., Md.
and Catherine Duke. Ninian was probably the son of Thomas Beall who came
from Scotland.
Have you read any of the works of Elise Greenup Jourdan? She did a great,
great deal on the Bealls that seems to be good.
I have had to correct Francine on a lot of her research.
I have written what I consider a pretty good history of the Vowles family.
Are you related to the late Kelly Thompson of Western Ky. Univ.?
Bob Moore, a native of Nelson Co. and a desc. of Henry Vowles and Priscilla
Price.
