Cecily Bardolf,was married to Brian Stapleton, Knt., of Ingham, Norfolk,
and Bedale, co. York, son of Miles Stapleton, Knt., of Ingham and Bedale
(descenda nt of Charlemagne), by Ela, dau. of Edmund Ufford, Knt. (of
Magna Charta Sure ty descent and descendant of Charlemagne). He was born
in 1379 (aged forty o r more in 1419). He fought in the French Wars, and
was at Agincourt in 1415. He was a prisoner for five years until
ransomed. He was M.P., and Sheriff of Norfolk and Suffold, 1424. She
died on 29 Sep. 1432. Sir Brian Stapleton died testate on 7 Aug. 1438.
They were buried in Ingham Priory (with monumental brass, now lost).
