Performed military service in 1812(?). Ancestors came from N.C. on account of the inquisition to Hillsboro and Charlotte. William and Polly were pioneers from the (Johnson-White) blockhouse built in 1815 on the Tippicanoe trail, later known as old Harrison Road. All of grandpa's uncles and one aunt were born in West Tennessee after leaving N.C. after the Mecklenburg Declaration of Independence. In Russleville, Ky. for several years. They had five sons and two daughters, ages six weeks to 20 years when they moved from the blockhouse on 12/15/1817. Six of William's family are buried in the Johnson-Hopewell cemetery. Grandfather, grandmother, and Aunt Nancy are on lot 1.
