[27225] Samuel and Clarissa Millikan first settled near Morristown. He subsequently followed his brother Eli to Ohio and lived some time in Wilmington County. He finally removed to Chester Township, Wells County, Indiana where he built a water sawmill on the Salamona river about 1849.He also had a shop in which he worked as a blacksmith. He owned a good farm and farming was his principal occupation. He died on his farm, aged 80 years and 11 months. Samuel Millikan served for many years as a justice of the peace, and was a man of upright character and commanding influence in his community. They were buried in the Twibell cemetery one-half mile north of Montpelier, IN. There were eight children.
