Sir Edward de Warenne, Knt. (natural son of John de Warenne, by Maud ofNerford), living 1347, d. bef. 1369; m. Cicely de Eton, daughter of SirNicholas de Eton, Knt., of Poynton and Stockport. [Ancestral Roots]
Watson's attempt, in "The House of Warren", vol ii, pp. 75-82, to provethat the Warrens of Poynton,Cheshire, were legitimately descended from anEarl of Surrey, was disposed of by Ormerod, "Hist. Cheshire". Edward, thefounder of the Poynton Warrens was abastard son of the last Warrenne Earl of Surrey by Maud deNerford, as is established by the fact that Maud's inheritance inSkeyton, Norfolk, remained in the family of the Warrens of Poynton forsome generations.
