== Biography ==
Owen was born about 1819 in Co Louth. He died 15th June 1875 aged 56 and was buried at Holy Cross Cemetery, Seneca Co, New York [Finda Grave http://www.findagrave.com/cgi-bin/fg.cgi?page=gr&GRid=134817854]
He married Jane Boyle at Cooley, Co Louth 8th Dec 1839, where their oldest children were baptised. Jane died 23 Dec 1874 aged 54.
Owen Finnegan arrived in New York on May 31, 1849. His wife, Jane, followed with their children in May 1850 on a ship called the Marchioness of Bute. The 1850 census, conducted mere months after their arrival, finds them in Covert, New York. Before long, they shifted slightly north to the town of Ovid. They lost one son, Michael, to the Civil War, at Cold Harbor, Virginia in 1864. Another son Stephen was wounded at Spotsylvania Courthouse and carried shrapnel souvenirs for the rest of his life.
