Samuel Parsons first married Elizabeth Cooke, daughter of Major Aaron Cooke, they had four children. She died in September 1690, and he married secondly, about 1691, Rhoda Taylor (our ancestor), they had eight children. She died very soon after September 3, 1711, when her last child was born and Samuel, evidently needing a nurse and mother for the child, married thirdly, on December 15, Mary Wheeler, he had one child with Mary.
In 1681 the need for a sawmill in Northampton was under discussion and a site for one was granted to Samuel Parsons and three other men, who were to set up a mill within a year.
For a number of years the Indians harassed Northampton and its sister towns, and in 1708 the Parsons family suffered sadly, for on July 9, two sons of John Parsons were killed while searching the woods for cattle, and on July 26, Aaron Parsons, was slain.
Samuel Parsons was a Representative of Durham at the General Court of Connecticut in 1720 and from 1722 to 1724 and was included in a list of the proprietors of that town in the latter year.
