Richmond Terrell (frequently shown as Tyrrell) came to America in 1656and settled in New Kent County (Land Patent Book, Richmond, Book 4, page12). On November 28, 1656, Richmond Terrell was granted 640 acres fortransportation of thirteen persons, among them his brother, Robert. Theland was northeast of Cattail Swamp. The patent was issued by Sir WilliamBerkley, Governor. In the years that followed, Richmond Terrell wasgranted large tracts of land in New Kent and James City Counties,Virginia.
