Religion: Quaker. Mary was imprisoned as a member of the first recorded
meeting of the Society of Friends in Derbyshire. Meetings were held in her
home until authorities stormed into her house and broke up a meeting in 1663.
George Fox had been imprisoned in Derbyshire in 1650-51, prior to the
beginning of the 'Quaker Explosion'.

Worden Family History by Eric Kingman Eastwood, 1951, Pittsburgh, Pa.: Came over on the ship "the Anne" with daughter Elinor Newton, which was captained by William Peirce. His son Peter II, came over in the 1630's. He left the Plymouth area quickly to settle perhaps in Saugus, or Cape Cod, eventually settling in Yarmouth. His son came over later after 1637 and joined him. In Englandhe had lands and rental properties and refers to these in his will. He had ashop in Clayton, as well.

1582 - Peter Worden son of Robert is a Burgess of Preston, Lancashire,England.
1602 - Peter Worden is again Burgess of Preston.
1613 - The Harolds visit: The Pedigree is established and regestered inthe college of arms.
The Worden family was in Dennis before 1639, when the official settlementbegan under the proprietorship of Anthony Thacher, John Crawe and ThomasHowes.
Lived in Lynn Mass. among early settlers of Cape Cod. Will dated Feb.9,1639 first of England to die there. Hatter by trade. Came to America onthe ship the Anne.
Worden Hall was built in the 1880's as a meeting hall - it was so namedbecause it is on the land originally owned by Peter who died in 1639 andhas the dubious distinction of having been the first white man to die andbe burried in what is now the town of Dennis, then East Yarmouth.
Worden's originally came from Germany, where the name was spelled"Worthen". This information came from the State Library at Albany, NY.
