[hughbuckner.FTW] [Brøderbund WFT Vol. 5, Ed. 1, Tree #3634, Date of Import: Apr 14, 2001] Hugh Buckner resided in the City of Oxford. According to the "Registrum Universitatis, Oxon," he took the oath as Baliff, October 2, 1592; and on November 25, 1596, appeared before the Vice-Chancellor for examination in a claim that he had presented of the amount of 20 pounds.
If he left a will, no record of it has been found. However, in the Parish Registers of St. Aldates, and of the Church of St. Mary, Oxford, there are various entries pertaining to his children and grandchildren, and the issue of his sister Rose. It is from these records that the approximate birthdates of his children have been derived. It is interesting to note that a son named William was buried in 1598. In 1605 a son named William was baptized.
St. Marys Parish Registers provide strong evidence as to the parentage of John and Philip Buckner, the Virginia immigrants.
