(this is the earliest marriage found in the town records) she d. Oct 19, 1691,and he m (2d),Oct 2, 1694, Sarah Bemis. He d. July 14, 1703, aged 86, Inventory, lb627,12. The Bigelows came to Marl. between 1690 and 1700, from Watertown. thisfamily was early in the country and may be traced to a remote period in England, even to the reign of Henry III., where the name was written Baguley, and was derived from the place where they dwelt. Richard at that time was lord of Baguley, and his descendants took the nameof the place. In the reign of henry VII, Ralph de Baguley was lord of Ollerton Hall and d. 1540, leaving Randall and Nicholas. Randall d. 1556, and his sons, Philip and Robert, divided his estate. Robert died 1582 leaving Randall and John, both of whom moved to Suffolk. Randall d. 1626,leaving two sons, Francis and John. Francis d. 1657, and gave by will a portion of his property to his brother John, then in New England.
According to History of North Brookfield Massachusetts by J. H. Temple 1887 The Genealogy of this family from 1540 to 1718, by Jason Bigelow Perry of Rindge, N.H., may be found in the large Vol. in the Town clerk's office, North Brookfield, compiled by Hon. Chas. Adams. jr.
Watertown, Rec. 4 Mar 1651 "Agreed with John Biglo yt for ten trees the towne allowed him for the setting up a shop for a Smithes forge, y't he shall either go on withyt his promise of setting up his trade, w' his the trade of a Smith, wthin one twelf month after the date hereof or else to pay unto the towne ten shillings for these ten trees he acknowledged to have off the townes."

The rector of Wrentham parish in 1617 was the Rev. John Phillips, who later emigrated to Dedham, MA. During his years in Dedham, Phillis once stated that the blacksmith John Biglo of Wathertown, MA was the sameinfant whom he had baptised in 1617 as son of Randall Beageley, and that he (Phillips) had "known John Biglow from earliest youth upward."

He d. July 14, 1703, aged 86. He was the ancestor of the numerousfamilies of Bigelows in New England. He had 12 (actually 13) children -6 sons and 6 daus. The name is variously written in the Watertownrecords -- BIGULAH, BIGLO, and BIGLOW.
