[3184] Mary Queen of Scots succeeded her father on 12/14/1542, seven days after her birth. She was forced to surrender to a confederation of Scottish nobles headed by her bastard brother, Regent Moray, at Carberry Hill on June 15, 1567. After 19 years in custody in a number of castles and manor houses in England, she was tried and executed for treason for her alleged involvement in three plots to assassinate Elizabeth.
