Plantagenet Ancestry of Seventeenth Century Colonist by David Faris, 1st Edition, 1996, Genealogical Publishing Company, Baltimore, pg 188: 4. Constance Beaumont, was b. abt 1467, She m. John Mitton (or Mytton), Esq., Sheriff of Staffordshire, son and heir of John Mytton, Esq. of Weston under Lizard, Stafford, by Anne, dau of Thomas de Swinnerton, of Hilton and Essington, Stafford. He was b. abt 1470 (aged thirty or more at his father's death). John Mitton, Esq., d. on 16 Feb. 1532/3. His widow d. abt 1551. They were buried (with former monumental brass) at Weston.

Constance, wife of John Mitton of Weston-under-Lizard, co. Stafford, was the dau. of Sir Henry Beaumont of Wednesbury, co. Stafford, and his wife Eleanor Sutton. She was born about 1467.Mitton died Feb. 16, 1532, but his wife survived him, probably until 1551 when admin. of her estate was granted to Thomas Watts of Lichfield.
The marriage of Constance Beaumont to John Mitton is, so far as has been discovered, first recorded in a book of pedigrees of Shropshire gentry, probably not a regular visitation, taken by Richard Lee , Richmond Herald. ...
As Constance Mitton survived until 1551, the pedigree comes very near being contemporary evidence.
The marriage is most probable insofar as time, place and comparable social position of the parties to it are concerned. Granted that Sir Henry Beaumont had a dau. Constance, she and John Mitton were of approximately equalage, and their fathers, both lords of Staffordshire manors, were near neighbors and associates in the affairs of the county. Inasmuch as there is no evidence contradictory to the marriage as set forth by the Richmond Herald and asall of the circumstantial evidence in confirmatory, it may, I believe, be considered acceptable.
