Nicholas Olmstead is an ancestor of US President Millard Fillmore

Capt. Nicholas Olmsted/Olmstead, served in the Pequot War in 1637,Captain (King Philip's War) 1675, a Townsman of Northside Hartford for 9years between 1653 and 1683. He was Corporal of the Hartford Troop ofHorse in 1658, Freeman and Rate Maker in 1669, and Deputy to the GeneralCourt in 1672 and 1673.

He came to the US with his parents on board the "Lion", arriving inBoston, MA on 16 Sep 1633. The Olmsted's old family seat in Fairsted,Essex, England still exists.
