He was under eighteen when named in his father's will in 1452. As oneof his parent's younger children, he was probably born between 1435and 1440. He was named as fifth son of Sir Robert Wingfild and hiswife Elizabeth in the 1561 Visitation of Suffolk.He was called SirHenry Wyngfeld, of Orford, Knt., in his will, dated 21 Feb. 1493/4 andproved 6 May 1494. He asked to be buried in the church of the AustinFriars of Orford. He bequeathed 400 sheep to his wife Elizabeth, ofwhich 100 each were to go to his sons Thomas and Robert upon the ageof 21. He made various other bequests and asked that 600 sheep 'besold to my nephew Robert Wyngfeld' to pay for prayers for his and hisrelatives' sould. He also left his wife a house with appurtenances andall his purchased land in Shottisham, whihc were to go at her death tohis son Robert. (H.W.B. Wayman, ed., Suffolk Wills [Orford],Prerogative Court of Canterbury 1383-1800 London, 1915, pp. 1-2,detailed abstarct of the will, PCC 10 Vox) He was probably over 40when he married his second wife, Elizabeth, the mother of his twosons. [3958] When her first husband, George Seckford, Esquire, ofHackford Hall in West Harling, Norfolk, England, died in 1450, he leftAlice the Lady of the Manor there. In 1470, being at that time thewife of Sir Henry Wingfield, the manor was released to her relation,Thomas Seckford, Esquire. It appears that Alice may have been in poorhealth, or even died about this time, thus returning the manor intoher husband's family's hands.
Knighted at the Battle of Tewksbury in 1471; for many years theGovernor of Orford Castle, Suffolk.
