Karen Sue Stafford Shields Went to be with her precious Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Thursday, October 5, 2006 in Valparaiso, IN. Karen was born on March 19, 1963 in Martinsville, IN. She graduated from Martinsville High School in 1981 and Ball State University in 1985, where she was assigned to Kent State University through Campus Crusade for Christ. On June 19, 1993 she married Douglas A. Shields of Anderson, IN. Other survivors include four daughters; Hannah Elizabeth, Rachel Marie, Abigail Anna and Lydia Rose; two stepchildren; Timothy D. Shields (Amanda) of New Castle and Erin Shields of Yorktown. Also surviving are her father, Lawrence Stafford of Indianapolis; her mother, Joyce Henselmeier Stafford, also of Indianapolis; sister, Donna (Joel) Holyoak of Texas; brothers, Mike (Jodie) Stafford of Albany and Jim (Dawn) Stafford of Martinsville; stepmother, Carol Stafford of Indianapolis; stepbrother, Ryan Kirk of Martinsville; also in-laws Glen and Barbara Shields of Anderson, and step-granddaughter Gracie Elizabeth Shields of New Castle. Her complete faith and trust in her Savior Jesus Christ was her greatest joy as was her role as wife and mother to her children. Calling hours will be from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. on Saturday, October 7, 2006 at G.H. Herrmann Greenwood Funeral Home, 1605 S State Road 135, Greenwood, IN. Celebration of Karen's life will take place immediately following visitation at 3 p.m. on Saturday, October 7. Burial will be at Mt. Pleasant Cemetery, Morgantown Rd., Greenwood, IN. Memorial contributions may be made to Above Rubies, P. O. Box 681687, Franklin, TN 37068 or Life Today Ministries, P. O. Box 982000, Fort Worth, TX 76182.
