Also Known As: John /Lummys/
The history of the Loomis family has been well documented. It is not always found as Loomis, though, sometimes found as Loomas, Lumax, Loomax, Lummis, and other variations.
John was a taylor and as shown by his will, dated 1619, to have been a tradesman and real-estate holder in comfortable circumstances.

Robert Royce was born in England and was an early settler in Stratford,CT, where his name is on record in 1644. In 1657 he moved to New London,CT where he was constable in 1660 and the following year was a member ofthe General Assembly. Robert Royce of New London died in 1676, leaving a widow, Mary, who died in 1697, and on July 14 of that year administrationof the remaining estate of the widow, who died intestate, was granted herson, Samuel Royce. The surname of Mary, wife of Robert Royce, is not on record, but a Mary Sims and Robert Royce were married at Martsock,Somersetshire, England, June 4, 1634, and the date is suitable for the marriage of the New London, CT man. OLIVER PURCHASE 1552
1552 to ?
Dorcester, Dorset, England
Many people apparently believe that his father was also an Oliver Purchase. We have seen no documentation to that effect.
Oliver Purchase and Thomasine Harris were married June 21, 1577 in Dorcester, Dorset, England.
Thomasine Harris - it is believed she was born in 1556 (source unknown) in Dorcester, Dorset, England. It is possible that she was not born in Dorcester, but that researchers have just assumed that is where she was born. One note - in another Harris line we have, it goes back to Devon, England (next door to Dorset), in the same time frame (mid 1500's). The name is spelled Hares on some of the old records.
We do not know where Oliver and Thomasine Purchase are buried. We suspect they died in Dorcester, Dorset, England as we have not found any evidence that they emigrated to the colonies with their children.
CHILDREN OF OLIVER PURCHASE AND THOMASINE HARRIS:
Thomas Purchase
Joan Purchase (married Barnard Capen)
Oliver Purchase (married a Sarah)
Jane Purchase (married William Windsor)
Aquila Purchase (married Anne Squire)
Sarah Purchase (married George Way)
